Power Barges

Inside the steel hull of a floating power plant (power barges) vibration and structure borne noise control is obviously even more important than in other locations. Spring support offers here, however, other and perhaps even more important advantages.

Water temperature differences between water surface and below the barge will lead to a certain bending of the whole barge, resulting in an unacceptable misalignment of the shaft of the power generating unit. In case of elastic support the springs will follow the bending of the barge, whereas the spring supported base will stay nearly unaffected.

Elastic support will therefore in this case not only provide good vibration and structure borne noise control, but even save money.
